How long has Multitech been operating?
Multitech was founded in 2008. The company became an authorized Universal Robots distributor in 2019, an authorized distributor for Mobile Industrial Robots in 2022, achieved Universal Robots Gold Distributor status in 2023 and opened a UR Authorized Training Centre in 2025.
What is Multitech’s relationship with Universal Robots?
Multitech is an authorized Universal Robots distributor and operates a UR Authorized Training Centre. This gives customers a direct route from product selection and application engineering to certified training and ongoing support.
Why work with Multitech instead of buying a robot arm alone?
A robot arm is only one component of an automation application. Multitech starts with the production task and brings together the end effector, fixtures, sensing, controls, safety concept, programming, validation and training needed for the complete cell to perform reliably.
Does Multitech only sell robots?
No. Multitech is application-focused: our work can include process assessment, concept development, feasibility testing, equipment selection, integration, commissioning, operator training and lifecycle support. The goal is not to place a robot in a factory; it is to create measurable production improvement.
Which industries does Multitech support?
Multitech supports industrial manufacturers in sectors including metalworking, machinery, automotive supply, electronics, plastics, consumer products, logistics and other production environments. Suitability depends more on the task, part flow and business case than on the industry label.
Can Multitech support projects outside Romania and Hungary?
Yes. Multitech’s core offices are in Romania and Hungary, while project support can extend across Europe. Scope, site access, commissioning and service arrangements are agreed for each application.

The strongest projects begin with a clearly defined process rather than a preferred robot model.
What is the first step in a collaborative robotics project?
Start with the bottleneck. Multitech first examines the task, parts, cycle, variation, operator interaction, available space and production target. That evidence determines whether collaborative automation is appropriate and what should be tested next.
What information should we provide for an initial assessment?
Useful inputs include part drawings or samples, photos or video of the process, cycle-time targets, payloads, machine interfaces, shift pattern, quality requirements, available floor space and known safety constraints. Incomplete information is normal; Multitech helps structure the questions.
Can Multitech perform a feasibility study or proof of concept?
Yes. When gripping, reach, force, vision, cycle time or process stability is uncertain, Multitech can isolate the riskiest assumptions and test them before the full cell is built. Early proof reduces technical and commercial uncertainty.
Does Multitech deliver complete turnkey cells?
Multitech can engineer and coordinate complete applications, including the robot, end-of-arm tooling, fixtures, sensors, controls, guarding or other safety measures, software, validation and training. The exact boundary is defined around the customer’s equipment and internal capabilities.
Can a cobot be integrated with our existing machines?
Often, yes. Multitech assesses mechanical access, loading conditions, I/O, communication protocols, machine states, doors and interlocks before defining the interface. Older equipment can frequently be automated, but its controls and safety condition must be evaluated.
How long does a cobot project take?
Project duration depends on process complexity, tooling, machine interfaces, testing, compliance work and equipment lead times. A straightforward application may progress quickly; a multi-process cell with custom tooling and validation needs more engineering. Multitech defines milestones after the initial assessment rather than promising a generic deadline.
Will installation interrupt production?
Multitech plans installation, integration and acceptance around the realities of the production site. Where possible, programming and testing are completed away from the line, while cutover work is organized to reduce disruption. The final plan depends on access to machines, utilities and production windows.
Can Multitech help us scale from one cell to several?
Yes. A first cell can establish standards for tooling, controls, safety, operator interaction, documentation and training. Multitech can use those lessons to make later deployments more consistent while adapting each cell to its actual process.
Collaborative robots
What cobots are–and what they are not.
Collaborative capability creates new design options, but it does not remove the need for engineering or risk assessment.
What is a cobot?
A cobot, or collaborative robot, is an industrial robot designed with functions that can support collaborative applications. In practice, the complete application–not the arm alone–determines how people and the robot can share a workspace safely and productively.
How is a cobot different from a traditional industrial robot?
Cobots are typically compact, flexible and designed for accessible programming and collaborative safety functions. Traditional industrial robots may be preferable for very high speed, very high payload or fully isolated processes. Multitech selects the architecture around the task rather than assuming one robot type is always better.
Are cobots safe without guarding?
Not automatically. Every application requires a risk assessment that considers the robot, tool, part, speed, force, pinch points, process hazards and human access. Depending on the result, the cell may use speed and separation monitoring, power and force limiting, scanners, interlocks, guarding or a combination of measures.
Will cobots replace people?
Multitech uses cobots to remove repetitive, strenuous, hard-to-staff or consistency-critical work while keeping people responsible for judgment, improvement and exceptions. The best result is usually a better division of work, not an empty workstation.
Which tasks are good candidates for cobots?
Strong candidates are repetitive tasks with stable inputs, measurable outputs and a clear production need. Common examples include machine tending, palletizing, handling, welding, dispensing, assembly, inspection, sanding, polishing and material removal.
Which tasks are poor candidates for cobots?
A task may be unsuitable when parts are uncontrolled, cycle-time demands exceed the collaborative concept, payload or reach is insufficient, the process creates unacceptable hazards, or the surrounding equipment cannot interface reliably. Multitech identifies these limits early and can recommend a different automation architecture.
Can one cobot be moved between tasks?
Cobots can be redeployed, but useful redeployment requires planning. Bases, tools, utilities, safety settings, programs, calibration and material presentation must all support repeatable changeover. Multitech designs mobility when it strengthens the business case rather than treating it as an automatic benefit.
What makes a complete cobot application?
A complete application combines the robot arm with a controller, user interface, end-of-arm tool, fixtures, sensors, machine communication, safety measures and validated software. Multitech coordinates these elements around the process so that motion becomes useful production work.
Can cobots use vision, force sensing or AI?
Yes. Vision can locate or inspect parts, force sensing can control contact processes, and AI can support perception or adaptive behaviour. These technologies are valuable only when their uncertainty, response time, data and safety implications are engineered for the real production environment.

What is Universal Robots?
Universal Robots is a Danish robotics company founded in 2005 and known for developing commercially successful collaborative robot arms. Its cobots are used in production environments worldwide and are supported by a large ecosystem of partners, components, software and training resources.
Why does Multitech work with Universal Robots?
Universal Robots combines industrial robot performance with accessible programming, integrated safety functions, open interfaces and a broad application ecosystem. For Multitech, that creates a strong platform for building flexible cells without losing focus on the tooling, process and people around the robot.
What is PolyScope?
PolyScope is the Universal Robots programming and operating platform supplied with UR cobots. It supports guided programming for common workflows as well as more advanced integration, allowing Multitech to create an operator experience appropriate to the application and the customer’s skill level.
What are UR Marketplace and the UR ecosystem?
The Universal Robots ecosystem includes compatible grippers, welding equipment, vision, sensors, software, safety devices, application kits and complete solutions. Multitech evaluates ecosystem products alongside custom engineering so that compatibility does not replace application suitability.
Which Universal Robots model do we need?
The correct model depends on total payload, reach, tool mass, speed, cycle, mounting position, process forces, cable routing and the required safety concept. Multitech performs this selection from application data; choosing only by nominal payload can lead to an underperforming cell.
Can Universal Robots cobots communicate with other equipment?
Yes. UR systems support industrial I/O and communication options used to coordinate with machines, PLCs, sensors, tools and production systems. Multitech defines the signal sequence, fault handling and ownership of each interface so the cell behaves predictably.
Does buying a Universal Robots cobot include the whole application?
No. The cobot provides the motion and control platform, while the productive solution also needs tooling, part presentation, machine interfaces, safety engineering, software and validation. Multitech supplies the application knowledge that connects those elements.

Can Multitech automate arc welding?
Yes. Multitech collaborative welding applications coordinate the robot, torch, welding source, fixtures, extraction, parameters and safety concept to deliver repeatable seams while reducing operator exposure to heat and fumes.
Can Multitech automate assembly and dispensing?
Yes. Assembly cells can handle insertion, fastening and joining, while dispensing cells control paths, flow and bead geometry for adhesive, sealant, grease or coatings. Tooling, sensing and process validation are central to both.
Can Multitech automate machine tending?
Yes. Multitech integrates cobots with CNC machines, presses, moulding machines, test equipment and similar assets. A dependable cell manages part gripping, doors, machine signals, cycle states, faults and safe operator access–not just loading motion.
Can Multitech automate material handling and palletizing?
Yes. Applications can move parts, trays, cases, bags or totes and create repeatable pallet patterns. Multitech checks payload, reach, line rate, gripper design, pallet access and ergonomic improvement before choosing the cell architecture.
Can Multitech automate inspection?
Yes. A robot can present cameras, sensors or metrology equipment from repeatable viewpoints and connect results to the production flow. Multitech designs the application around the decision the quality team needs, not around the camera alone.
Can Multitech automate sanding, polishing or material removal?
Yes. These processes require controlled path, angle, speed and contact force. Multitech combines suitable tools, compliance or force control, dust management, part fixtures and process testing to create a stable finish.
Can Multitech develop an application not listed on the website?
Possibly. The nine application families cover common patterns, but they are not a closed catalogue. Multitech evaluates unusual tasks from first principles and will say clearly when a cobot, another robot architecture or no automation is the better answer.
Safety, training and support

A successful cell must be safe, understandable and maintainable by the people who operate it every day.
Who is responsible for cobot safety?
Safety is a shared project responsibility defined through applicable laws, standards, roles and documentation. Multitech develops the application safety concept within the agreed scope, while the employer remains responsible for safe use at the production site. Responsibilities are clarified before commissioning.
Does every cobot application need a risk assessment?
Yes. Collaborative functions do not make risk assessment optional. The assessment must consider normal operation, setup, maintenance, foreseeable misuse, the end effector, the workpiece, surrounding machines and every way a person can interact with the cell.
What training does Multitech provide?
Multitech connects free UR Academy e-learning with instructor-led core, advanced, specialist and operator training. Hands-on courses at the UR Authorized Training Centre help teams program, operate, troubleshoot and improve real collaborative robot applications.
Do operators need programming experience?
Not necessarily. Operator training can focus on safe startup, loading, running programs, approved adjustments and responding to common errors. Engineers and technicians who will develop or maintain applications can follow deeper programming, safety, service and interface pathways.
What happens after commissioning?
Multitech can support production ramp-up, fault diagnosis, optimization, training refreshers, planned maintenance and later changes within the agreed service scope. Good documentation and internal ownership are built into the handover so the customer is not dependent on guesswork.
How should we maintain a cobot cell?
Maintenance should cover the complete application: robot, tool, cables, fixtures, sensors, safety devices, software backups and connected machines. Multitech helps define practical checks and service actions based on duty cycle, environment and manufacturer guidance.
Can Multitech train our team before we buy a cobot?
Yes. Training before investment can help operators, engineers and decision-makers understand what collaborative robotics can realistically do. It also improves the quality of project requirements and gives the future cell stronger internal ownership.

How much does a cobot application cost?
There is no responsible single price for a complete application. Cost depends on the robot model, tooling, fixtures, sensors, safety measures, machine interfaces, engineering, validation, training and installation. Multitech develops a scoped concept so the estimate reflects the real process.
What determines cobot return on investment?
ROI can come from higher machine utilization, additional production hours, improved consistency, reduced scrap, less repetitive manual handling, easier staffing and faster changeover. Multitech builds the case around measurable baseline data and avoids relying on generic payback claims.
Are cobots only for large manufacturers?
No. Flexible automation can be especially valuable in small and medium-sized manufacturers with high-mix production, limited space or difficult-to-staff repetitive tasks. The deciding factors are process stability, utilization and value–not company size.
Should we automate the fastest or most expensive task first?
Not always. The best first project is usually a meaningful bottleneck with manageable technical risk, clear ownership and measurable results. Multitech balances impact with feasibility so the first cell creates confidence as well as output.
How do we know whether a cobot project succeeded?
